See the source image

Moringa plant is beginning to gain more popularity as a new superfood for its highly nutritious profile and powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and tissue-protective properties among many other health benefits.

Moringa oleifera, also known as horseradish tree, ben tree, or drumstick tree, is a small tree from India, Pakistan, and Nepal that has been used for generations in Eastern countries to treat and prevent diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, anemia, arthritis, liver disease, and respiratory, skin, and digestive disorders.

Moringa has become popular as a natural leaf powder supplement, although the pods, roots, bark, flowers, seeds, and fruits are also edible.

It’s nutrient-packed.

Moringa is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It contains significant amount of vitamin A, C, and E; calcium; potassium; and protein.

It fights free radicals.

Antioxidants fight free radicals, molecules that cause oxidative stress, cell damage, and inflammation.

Moringa contains antioxidants called flavonoids, polyphenols, and ascorbic acid in the leaves, flowers, and seeds.

A study found that leaf extracts had higher antioxidant activity, free-radical-scavenging capacity, and higher inhibition of lipid, protein, and DNA oxidation than flowers and seeds.

This means it prevents the damage and degradation that free radicals cause in the cells of different organs in the body, keeping them healthy and functioning at their best.

DR.SHIREESHA MADDALI

It fights inflammation.

Inflammation can lead to chronic diseases like diabetes, respiratory problems, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and obesity. Moringa reduces inflammation by suppressing inflammatory cell and proteins in the body, and moringa leaf concentrate can lower the inflammation in the cells.

EVENING PRIMROSE ESSENTIAL OIL

See the source image

Many people refer to evening primrose oil as one of the most miraculous discoveries in preventive care since Vitamin C. It has a compound known as phenylalanine that can help with pain relief, and is increasingly used with remedying headaches. It’s increasingly being researched throughout the planet as a remedy for aging problems, alcoholism, acne, heart disease, hyperactivity in kids, signs of menopause, multiple sclerosis, weight control, obesity, PMS, and schizophrenia. It has preventive and therapeutic characteristics that are so numerous that it has become a regular suggestion of quite a large number of herbalists for keeping one youthful and avoiding illness.

Evening primrose oil is full of the fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid, or GLA (one of the body’s essential fatty acids). GLA and other fatty acids are very important for the general function of your body. Alcoholics and individuals with diabetes tend to be deficient in GLA, and that may lead towards the development of arthritis symptoms and cardiovascular disease in addition to a number of other problems.

Studies have shown that using evening primrose oil on a daily basis can help lower a person’s cholesterol, blood pressure, and safeguard one against coronary artery disease and thus decrease the chance of heart disease and heart attacks.

Evening primrose oil is usually used to alleviate the distress that is commonly associated with menstrual signs. While certain studies have supported this particular claim, other studies have ended up with inconclusive results. Nevertheless, there’s no denying that many women all over the world are finding relief by using evening primrose oil.

Evening primrose oil is recognized as an efficient remedy for eczema and a number of other skin problems due partly to its GLA content and other essential fatty acids which are necessary to correct skin health.

CLARY SAGE

Clary sage is extracted by steam distillation from the buds and leaves of the clary sage plant whose scientific name is Salvia sclarea. It is an herb believed to be a native of Europe, which has been highly praised as a medicinal plant throughout history, particularly owing to its numerous benefits that improve vision health. It is a close relative of common garden sage but has a slightly different makeup. Furthermore, you may be familiar with it as “muscatel oil”, a common name given to clary sage essential oil due to its traditional use of flavoring muscatel wine.

The chief components of the clary sage essential oil are sclareol, alpha-terpineol, geraniol, linalyl acetate, linalool, caryophyllene, neryl acetate, and germacrene-D. As the name suggests, clary sage oil was and still is primarily used as a cleanser for the eyes. It is supposed to brighten eyes, improve vision, and protect its loss due to premature or normal aging.

Stress reduction

Aromatherapy uses the power of scent to calm the mind and reduce feelings of ANXIETY.Your olfactory system directly affects the part of your brain that regulates emotion. That’s why what you smell can trigger memories and elicit feelings, both negative and positive.

When used in aromatherapy, clary sage oil can help alleviate stress by inducing a sense of well-being. One small study done on women undergoing a stressful medical test indicated that when inhaled, clary sage essential oil elicited feelings of relaxation and helped to reduce blood pressure.

2. Antibacterial properties

Clary sage oil in diluted form may have a positive impact upon some strains of bacteria. Researchers think it could be an effective treatment alone or in addition to traditional treatments for wound care.

In one laboratory  study, clary sage oil helped heal severe dermatological infections caused by several strains of Staphylococcus bacteria. The lab study used swabs from the bacterial infections of 61 people. Each had a difficult-to-treat wound that wasn’t responding well to antibiotics. The wounds were caused by burns, diabetes or surgical procedures. Diluted clary sage oil was found to be effective against several bacterial strains.

3. Natural antidepressant

Clary sage has been tested on both animals and humans to determine its potential benefits as an antidepressant. One study done on rats indicated that clary sage oil could be beneficial for depression by acting as an anti-stressor.

Another small study with menopausal women indicated that inhaled clary sage oil reduced cortisol, the stress hormone, and produced an antidepressant-like effect.

4. Alleviation of menopause symptoms

One component of clary sage oil is sclareol, which mimics the effects of estrogen in the body. For this reason, clary sage may be effective at reducing some of the symptoms of menopause. Some research suggests that diluted clary sage oil applied to the bottoms of the feet can reduce hot flashes.

5. Reducing menstrual cramps

A small study examined 48 women who experienced painful menstruation and cramps. Some of the women were given a cream containing clary sage oil and other essential oils to apply onto their lower abdomens daily, between menstrual cycles. The women who used the cream had a significant reduction in menstrual cramps than the control group.

YOGA for a better life

A Recent study found that yoga practice results in changes in gene expression that boost immunity at a cellular level. And it doesn’t take long: The researchers believe the changes occurred while participants were still on the mat, and they were significantly greater than a control group who went on a nature hike while listening to soothing music.

Yoga also helps to boost immunity by simply increasing overall health.

“As you breathe better, move better and circulate better, all the other organs function better.”

Kneel, then take your knees wide and big toes to touch.

Walk your hands forward until your forehand rests gently on the ground.

Practice deep, steady inhales and exhales for about 3-5 breaths as you let go of distraction and focus on your yoga practice.

Press into your hands to round your upper back, as if a string were pulling the middle of your back to the ceiling.

Drop your head and tuck your chin to chest, hugging your belly toward spine

Press into your hands to round your upper back, as if a string were pulling the middle of your back to the ceiling.

Drop your head and tuck your chin to chest, hugging your belly toward spine

Lower your belly and lift your chest.

Stay grounded through your hands as you broaden your shoulders. Lift your gaze to look forward or up, and hollow out your lower back.

Drop your shoulders away from ears.

Alternate between cat and cow two or three more times.

Walk your hands forward an inch or two, curl your toes underneath and lift your hips up into downward facing dog.

Your legs can keep a slight bend, but reach your heels toward the floor.

Ground down through all your fingers, especially the space between your thumb and first finger, and press through your arms while lifting your hips up and back.

Stay for 3-5 breaths.

Slowly walk your feet toward your hands, and step shoulder-width apart.

With a slight bend through your knees, lower the top of your head toward the ground, belly reaching to thighs, and let your hands dangle down to your toes.

Relax your upper body. Try moving your neck around here, exploring how it feels to bend or straighten your knees, acknowledging stiffness or tension in any part of your body.

Stay for a few breaths.

A healthy Diet can Lessen Your Risk

A healthy Diet can Lessen Your Risk

Why Nutrition is important. Eating a balanced diet is vital for good health and wellbeing. Food provides our bodies with the energy, protein, essential fats, vitamins and minerals to live, grow and function properly. We need a wide variety of different foods to provide the right amounts of Nutrients for good health.

Add color: A vegetable’s color signals the vitamins and minerals it contains. To get a wide range of nutrients, try to eat lots of different colored vegetables daily. Salads are great for this of course, But you can toss some veggies into almost any dish from scrambled eggs to pasta to the meat of. Separate your plate before you eat , mentally divide your plate into four equal parts. Then fill two with vegetables, use one for starchy foods (like potatoes, beans, rice or pasta) and one for a serving of lean meat, fish or meat substitute (such as eggs, cheese or tofu). Just don’t use a big platter-size plate , or you may pile on too much food. Know portion size : If you think a cereal bowl full of your favorite chocolate chip cream equals one serving, You may need some help estimating portion sizes. Chew your food well and wait for a while after eating before you decide if you want a second serve . Your brains needs 20 minutes to realize that you are full, Diet tips – Enjoy your meals with family with the TV switched off. Limit “screen time” to no more than two hours per day. Include at least 60 mins of physical activity or active play each day.  Choose high fiber, low Glycemic Index(Low GI ) carbohydrate. Eat your veggies first as always. If you’re absolutely starving at meal time, start with some vegetables or salad. This will ease your hunger and help keep you from overloading on meat or starchy foods. Head off temptation. It the cookie jar is the first thing you see when you walk into your kitchen, you’re asking for trouble . Instead move the cookies, ice cream, chips , etc where you can’t see them, like a high shelf or the back of the freezer. Avoid processed foods- Stay away from foods that are highly processed and contain added sugars like corn syrup. Hint- Check the ingredients on the label. If there’s a long list of unidentifiable chemicals , don’t eat it. Drink healthy – want a beverage to go with your healthy meal ? Choose water rather than soda or juice , which are high in calories and less nutrients than a piece of fruit, Unfortunately, everything the expert tell us about diet is aimed at the whole population , and we are not all the same, Those who think they have no time for healthy eating, will sooner or later have to find time for illness.  No doubt obesity is a lifestyle disease. The cause of obesity is lifestyle and so is the treatment! Even though you cannot change time, realize it is time to change.

nipah virus

NIPAH VIRUS

Nipah virus (NiV) infection is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes severe disease in both animals and humans. The natural host of the virus are fruit bats of the Pteropodidae Family, Pteropus genus.

See the source image

NiV was first identified during an outbreak of disease that took place in Kampung Sungai Nipah, Malaysia in 1998. On this occasion, pigs were the intermediate hosts. However, in subsequent NiV outbreaks, there were no intermediate hosts. In Bangladesh in 2004, humans became infected with NiV as a result of consuming date palm sap that had been contaminated by infected fruit bats. Human-to-human transmission has also been documented, including in a hospital setting in IndiaNiV infection in humans has a range of clinical presentations, from asymptomatic infection to acute respiratory syndrome and fatal encephalitis. NiV is also capable of causing disease in pigs and other domestic animals. There is no vaccine for either humans or animals. The primary treatment for human cases is intensive supportive care. It can also be spread between people ,often between family and caregivers of people who are affected.

See the source image

When a person is infected with the nipah virus ,they experience encephalitis or the inflammation of brain. It typically takes five to 14 days for the symptoms to start appear.

*FEVER

*HEADACHE

*DROWSINESS

*CONFUSION

*PROGRESS TO COMA

See the source image

There is no cure for this virus. Instead people who are infected are treated with supportive care, which includes making sure the person stays hydrated and treating any nausea or vomiting issue.

People can take step to prevent NIPAH  by avoiding exposure to sick pigs and bats and  not drinking raw date palm sap which can be contaminated by the excretion from infected bats.
