Demonetization Overview

Demonetization means a particular currency, ceases to be legal tender. On the 8th, November 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in a surprise address to the nation that Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 would no longer be legal tender from midnight of the same night. The decision was taken to curtail the perils of black money and corruption. It caused and resulted in many social, political and economic effects

The Advantages of Demonetization were

  • It was the first move from Cash Economy to Digital Economy thus progressing towards a Cashless Economy. People started using more of debit and credit cards and mobile wallets instead of cash. Digitalization will, in turn, create transparency in transactions and online lending space.
  • It was a huge blow to the parallel economy creating hurdles for black money hoarders, the government has been able to track black money
  • Fake currency was eradicated out of the system for those high-value currencies
  • It placed a temporary brake on terrorist activities
  • Disclosure of income in the form of depositing money in the bank accounts led to major generation of tax revenue
  • The unaccounted money came back into the banking system thus strengthening the banks
  • It brought down the rate of inflation during the months that followed demonetization, as the prices of day-to-day consumer goods came down

Disadvantages

  • The biggest disadvantage was the inconvenience caused to the common man disrupting their day-to-day life. Long ATM queues, inadequate supply of new notes. Cash-based businesses, manufacturers and all sections of business suffered losses. The daily wage earners were badly affected. Rural India faced worse situations due to lack of banks and ATMs in their localities
  • The Economic growth slowed down, the GDP went down
  • Due to substantial cash component in the Realty market transactions, sales were hampered significantly. Though slowly it is reviving
  • The Government had to bear huge costs for destroying the old currency and printing new ones
  • Many black money hoarders had their funds invested in assets like real estate, gold and so on which could not be traced
  • It made a minor dent in corruption

With all the pros and cons of demonetization, what was criticised the most was the implementation. The implementation of any such idea is more critical in a country like India than the policy itself.  The suffering of the common man could have been minimized with better planning.

The demonetization isn’t the only measure to curb black money and corruption. Regulations that target root cause, that is, transactions leading to generation of black money and not the cash output should be made

*Pay bills on time or even before the due date to avoid late fees and get early bird discounts

*Buy grocery from the supermarket that offers maximum discounts, plan your visit to the supermarket so that you have a list ready to avoid impulsive buying. Negotiate and haggle on purchases that permit it

*Make sure you have no dues on your credit cards, lest you waste your money paying unwanted interests. This will even help you have a better credit score for future loans and purchases

*Join a local library so you can borrow the books you like to read. Buy used textbooks or reference books, they would be cheaper and often have the important stuff highlighted 😉 and tips written on the corners of the books that turn out to be more helpful than the material in the textbook itself. Photocopying a reference book also can be done.

* Say NO to tempting and expensive brands. Brands are for the future you, not the present you.

Dhanteras

Dhanteras

Dhanteras is the beginning of Diwali the biggest festival of Hindus, the festival of lights. On this day Hindus worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber. (Lord Kuber is treasurer of money and Gold). It is believed that Goddess Laxmi came out from Kshir Sagar (Milky Ocean) holding a pot of gold and money in her hand on this day. As per Hindu rituals, on Dhanteras people buy some new things of metal like steel utensils, silver coins, gold jewellery, or items made of iron and copper. This festival falls on thirteenth day of Kartika month. On Diwali people wear new cloths and decorate their houses, offices, shops, and industries to welcome Goddess Laxmi. In front of the houses people also make rangoli, and make foot prints signifying the presence of Goddess Laxmi. People light colourful diyas and welcome Goddess Laxmi.
Housewives light diyas after sunset for Lord Yama.

There is story of King Hima’s son, whose death was predicted on the fourth day of his marriage by a snake bite. As the new wedded bride came to know about it, she built a heap of her gold ornaments on the door of the bedroom and kept her husband awake the whole night by talking and singing for him. When Lord Yama in form of snake visited in the palace to bite the prince, he was blinded on seeing dazzling metal. Since Yama missed the set time of death of prince and prince was saved, also leading to the celebration of Dhanteras. Even today some people keep lamps burning through the night on Dhanteras.

In the evening, the family members get together and pray first Lord Ganesha, after that they worship Dhanwantri, for good health and wellbeing of their family. People also pray God, who holds the kalasha full of nectar of immortality, Lord Dhanvantri removes all the fears and diseases. The Lord Dhanvantri is empowered to heal our souls also. Dhanteras is also called Dhanvantari Trayadashi. Dhanvantri is also worshipped on the occasion of Dhanteras, is the God of Ayurveda for betterment of man and help to get rid of the suffering of disease. National Ayurveda Day was first observed on 28t Oct., 2016.

During the Pradosh Kaal which is the time after sunset and remain for about two and half hours, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on Dhanteras. A piece of new red cloth should be spread on the raised platform. A handful of grains in the middle of the cloth, a kalash filled with water and mango leaves, water mixed with Ganga jal, a fruit, a flower, a coin and some rice grains are also kept together. The idol of Lord Ganesh and goddess Lakshmi are kept on grains. The important business books are also kept. Also (Diyas) light is lit, and offer prayers for the success, happiness and prosperity.

This year Dhanteras festival will be on 5th November 2018. We wish you all happy and prosperous Dhanteras in advance.

“Trust” is the name of relationship

What does relationship means? Relationship is a “TRUST” and “CARE”.
Relationship does not mean how much time you spent together, but it is how much you trust, how much you love, how much care you have for each other. Relationship means honesty. In any relationship every human being has expectations from each other but good relations last only when we are aware of our expectations, behaviour, actions, words, facial expressions, attitude, attention. At times we feel neglected because of our unreasonable expectations. Every relationship can be made stronger through good communication. Unfortunately, most people don’t learn to communicate effectively as they grow in age. When we are small we learn to speak, but what to speak, when and where to speak it takes life time to learn. In any relation effective communication is necessary.
It would be a great care if you understand other person’s feelings, needs, likes and dislikes clearly. And if you sacrifice your own needs and happiness to satisfy other persons desires, you may end up with fight and disappointment, so convey your feelings too. Understanding grows properly when a person understands himself and other persons emotions, desires, needs and work out mutually. This is a way to make relations strong.
We meet different people and build different type of relations such as family, colleague, teacher, student, children, boss, friend, romantic relations. It is very important to understand that in different relations we have different part to play. And there are different expectations in every relation. Sometimes, these expectations are clearly understood by both the parties and sometimes they just develop as people spend time with each other.
Depth and sincerity in relations are most important factors. We should have few good and solid relations, rather than focusing on too many people, who slip in and out of your life, as and when they want. Relationships are to provide emotional fulfilment that humans need as social animal. People have an innate need to feel loved, connected, and important to someone else. Some people feel this need more strongly, some don’t. Even if you don’t want the emotional benefits of relationships, you can benefit for networking, career opportunities, someone to call when you are in trouble.
A healthy relationship requires two ways traffic. Try to not to waste time in arguing. In relationship try to keep check on happiness of each other. Fulfil your promises. Don’t just say you will get a birthday gift and forget about it. By doing this other person will lose trust in you. If your memory is not good, write it down on personal diary or set a reminder in your cell phone. Try to keep your promises. If you cannot keep your promises, admit your mistake. You have to be responsible for your actions and cannot make anyone else guilty or responsible for your own mistakes. If you notice a mistake, apologize for the same without wasting time. Be realistic and loyal in your relationship.
What makes a relationship strong and healthy, choose the ways and resolve those problems and push though the hard days, instead of just later issues. Working on problems will help you to be positive. Positivity helps in making relations good.

How to remain Happy ?

Most people have no control over their emotional well-being. It is said that life is a matter of choices. Being happy is a choice. Decide, “Whatever the circumstances I want to be happy and I will be happy always.” There are no terms and conditions for happiness. Most people are as happy as they decide to be. Happiness doesn’t depend upon who you are or what you have. It depends on what you think . Our basic psychological needs include feeling loved, secure, and good at what we do. You also want to have a sense of control. Money doesn’t automatically fill these requirements, but it sure can help. I’ve learned to look for ways to spend money to stay in closer contact with my family and friends; to promote my health; to work more efficiently; to eliminate sources of irritation and marital conflict; to support important causes; and to have enlarging experiences. For example, when my sister got married, I splurged on a better SMART PHONE . It was expensive, but it gave me a lot of happiness . We expect others to treat us better than we treat them. We work out a few times and stress because we don’t instantly look like models. We want to live like rockstars, ignoring the fact that only a few people reach that level of success .In short, we tend to have unreasonable expectations. The difference between what we feel entitled to and what we actually get is the source of much misery .Accept life in its entirety; stop thinking in terms of what should be and accept what is. When you live without entitlement, every good thing becomes a wonderful surprise. Even better, expecting nothing means never being disappointed. Expectation is also the root cause of all the sorrows . “The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, then there will be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be.” Anne Frank
Here are few ways that I follow. Hope they help you too.
A. Hang around with positive people who make you smile. Avoid those who are perpetually complaining and criticising.
B. Always remind yourself that nothing is more important than your peace and happiness. You are born to be happy!
C. Always keep a goal in life, something to look forward to. That will keep you motivated.
D. Try to make the best of every situation. Spend time reading, watching movies, exploring your hobbies and most importantly travel. Travel as much as you can. Focus on collecting memories that last a lifetime.

Conclusion
At the end of the day, bad things will happen to you. You will have highs, lows and lots of mediums in your life. You’re only human, just like everybody else. So Just change the attitude and thinking towards it . IF YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY – MAKE OTHERS HAPPY – Dada
